Intel Mini Scientist Exhibition 2022

The Intel® Mini Scientist competition gives primary school students the opportunity to explore science and technology through project based learning and research. Children begin their project with an enquiry-based question on a topic of interest to them. Their results and findings are generally presented at fairs within their own schools.

Urbleshanny NS has a strong tradition of participating in the competition. On Tuesday, November 25th, Mrs. Little's Sixth Class presented their projects to the rest of the school. Mark Gilsenan, a judge from Intel, had the difficult task of choosing a project to progress to the next round. Winning projects selcted at this school level exhibition then go on to take part in the Mini Scientist Regional Final event with the possibility of continuing on to the Grand Final event.

After viewing the broad range of projects on offer, the judge chose a project titled 'Which makes the larger eruption?' which explored various alkaline and acidic explosions and used scientific methods to discover which eruption was larger. Well done to group members Conall, Shane, Conor and Jamie.
