Community Games 2018

Two teams of girls worked on projects and entered the Community Games Projects section. The two categories were as follows:

U11
‘New inventions can make or break the world’
Research and present a project based on this statement.  You must refer to the following points during the course of your research:

  • An invention that has enhanced the world we live in
  • An invention which has hindered our world
  • Create your very own invention – describe its function, its appearance, how it works, etc.

U13
‘Girls are more likely to drop out of sport than boys’
Research and present a project based on this statement.  You must refer to the following points during the course of your research:
  • National statistics participation in sport and physical activity for girls and boys
  • What is your local Community Games area doing to prevent girls dropping out?
  • What ideas and suggestions can you come up with to address this issue?

Annie, Hollie, Ava and Cassie entered the U11 and came 1st in the County Finals. They went through to the National Finals in Limerick. Well done to this team.

Lille-Mai, Kate, Leah and Shannon produced a very colourful display with lots of facts and reasons why girls are more likely to drop out of sport. They came 1st in the U13s and went on to Limerick where they received 3rd place in the National Finals. Congratulations to both teams on their hard work and their awards.
